This article looks for a deeper understanding of the word ‘b “bow.” The derivation of the word from the root ‘b “horn,” suggested already by Gardiner, is related here to the importation of horns of the Cretan wild goat for the construction of composite bows. The word can thus be established as a technical term for the composite bow, perhaps borrowed from the military language.
